    Chernivtsi-Snyatyn-Kryvorivnya

    The Museum of Vladimir Ivasiuk in Chernivtsi city, the author of "Red Rue" song. The Museum of well-known Ukrainian writer V.Stefanyk in Snyatyn city, Ivano-Frankisvk Oblast.

    One of the oldest and the most picturesque villages in Hutsul area - Kryvorivnya village, which can pretend for a village-ethnomuseum status, as at its territories are situated 14 historical sights. The village became well-known due to the writer Ivan Franko, who came to Kryvorivnya at the first time in the end of before last century and chose this place for having permanent summer vacations (came almost every summer since 1900 to 1914 years). In the beginning of XX century for a couple of months the village was becoming a heart of Ukrainian culture and literature, the place which "is placed along Cheremosh river, surrounded with tops of mountains as with a wreath". Here were Lesya Ukrainka, Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi, Marko Cheremshyna, Hnat Khotkevych, Konstiantyn Stanislavskyi, Olga Kobylianska, Vasyl Stefanyk and others. Here Mykhaylo Kotsiubynskyi wrote his brilliant narrative "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors". After half a century Serhiy Paradzanov made a film of the same name, which got more than twenty awards at the worldwide film festivals and was determined as a masterpiece of world cinema and one of the best feature film of XX century. The main role in the film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" was played by famous Ukrainian actor and director, native of Bukovyna land, Ivan Mykolaychuk. In Kryvorivnya village local craftsmen produce famous souvenirs: blankets made of wool, carved and inlaid jewelry boxes, embroidered shirts (called vyshyvanka), embroidered towels (called rushnyk), figures made of cheese, metal jewelry, leather and ceramic goods.

    Walking on the hanging bridge which is over the stormy Black Cheremosh. Visiting museums of Ivan Franko and Mykaylo Hrushevsky, who lived in this village in the beginning of XIX century. In the museums are kept original things and furniture, which were used by famous Ukrainian of the last century.

    As well as Ivan Franko, you can stay on vacation in Kryvorivnya village. Surrounded with picturesque Carpathian landscapes you will have a meal outdoors, treating yourself with Hutsul bread, baked on the wood, original tasty local dishes: banush, brynza (a sort of cheese), cold baked pork, knysh (a sort of white bread greased with salo or oil), and sweet-scented tea made of medicinal herbs, tincture of “a golden root”. In the morning you will be able to go to Cheremosh or to the stream Sukha and fish trouts, pick up mushrooms or berries by yourself; climb the mountains Igrets, Kamyanets or Bila Kobyla. In the evening you can immerse into the mystical atmosphere of the mountains, while listening Hutsul band performance; find out the secrets herbs treatment; listen to a great number of legends; visit craftsmen studios.

    In one of such houses where the owner became famous for the entire Austro-Hungarian Empire due to his wood carvings, he was awarded by Emperor Franz Joseph with four medals at Viennese exhibitions, now there is Ivan Franko Museum.

    The room - Museum of Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit. In childhood the girl created a series of drawings "The Fate of Hutsul girl" (105 drawings for Ivan Franko and Lesya Ukrainka masterpieces) with a help of an old typemachine and an ordinary colour pencil, she left a unique heritage – unexpected synthesis of kids' naivety and philosophical deepness...

    The city of kings – Zalishyky (1578), it is situated in a picturesque steep bank of Dniester. It is the only one area on Podillya with Mediterranean climate.

    The church of Saint Stanislav of 1750, Synagogue of 1896, monument in honor to Osyp Makovey (used to live in Zalishyky in period of 1867-1925) which is located in the park on the central street.

    Former border with Romania.

    Chervonohorod (Borshchiv Raion, Ternopil Oblast near Nyrkiv village) - the city-state. The ancient capital of the principality was at the bottom of a huge amphitheater surrounded by rocks from all the sides. - To Chervonohrad castle ruins – a warrior of the end of 19 century is leaded by red roads. According to the legend the God of Sun Yarylo made stones and ground red-colored. There is the highest in Ukraine flat 16-meter waterfall at the river Dzhuryn.

    Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University

    The business card of Bukovinian capital. It was established on 4th of October in 1875 by the decree of Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph, on the basis of theological institution which existed since 1827. The main building of Chernivtsi National University is situated in the former residence of Bukovinian metropolitan. The central building since 29th of June 2011 by the decision of 35th session of World Heritage UNESCO Committee is included into the list of World Cultural Heritage.

    Chernivtsi City Hall. The building process started on 19th of April in 1843 and lasted for 4 years. The facility always was used in accordance with its role – here is situated the local government (Chernivtsi City Hall).

    Olha Kobylyanska Chernivtsi Academic Music and Drama Theater

    The theater was erected in record time – just in 14 months (from 1st of August 1904 to 3rd of October 1905). Responsible about inner decoration designs were Czech masters (Gudyaczek and Yagoda). There is "Star Alley" at Theater Square in front of the theater.

    Saint Mariya Square (former Turkish Well Square) There are located Turkish well, Turkish bath. These titles are associated with the Turkish military garrison that took place in Chernivtsi at the beginning of the XVIII century. Local legends owe the Turks the construction of brick well and a stone water reservoir and also a stone bridge over Turkish Street. In recent years the level of attractiveness has increased due to the giant-bicycle and unusual flower clock on a slope in front of the Square.

    "Drunk Church" (with twisted domes). Saint Nicholas Cathedral building process started in 1927. Then the building due to the financial problems was stopped for a while and resumed after 10 years. After 2 years the cathedral was opened.

    Khotyn Fortress was the result of Khotyn fort which was formed in X century by Volodymyr prince. In 1847 the fortress stroke off an attack of Turkish troops. The fortress took part in a lot of historical battles. Nowadays at the Fortress' territory is located the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Khotyn fortress”.

    Kamyanets-Podilsk Fortress is known since the XVII century as a part of Kamyanets-Podilsk defense system – the former capital of the principality in period of XIV-XV centuries, Podilsk vojvodstvo in period of XV-XVIIІ centuries, Podilsk province (1793-1924 years). It is a part of the National Historical and Architectural Reserve "Kamyanets" and belongs to the list of "Seven Wonders of Ukraine".

    Holy Ascension Banchenskyi Monastery - one of the most outstanding places of Bukovinian land. This holy place attracts pilgrims from all over Ukraine and also from Moldova, Romania, Russia and other countries. The monastery was established by Mykhailo Zhar – the first priest who is awarded with a status of Hero of Ukraine. At the monastery there is сhildren's home where are brought up more than 200 unfortunate and sick kids. At the monastery one can meet even on weekdays famous pop starts and sportsmen, known politicians and other well-known people who come here to pray. Father Mykhailo Zhar blessed Ukrainian box team which in 2012 performed well at the Olympics in London.

    Chernivtsi is known not only due to the architecture but also due to the famous natives of this land, due to a variety of resonant sportive events, among which are international competitions "Bukovinian mile" (since 2013 it also became the championship of Ukraine in the running 1 mile), stages of European Championships and World Motocross, a stage of European Championship Rally "Aleksandrov Rally", international competitions in archery "Bukovinian Cup" etc.
